A DIALOGUE BETWEEN OPPOSITES:
The threshold in-between

The linking corridor becomes the mediator: a red-toned threshold finished with terracotta tiles and bright red window frames. It marks the shift between the domestic and the introspective where contrast is reinforced by the warm in-between character of the corridor.

Materiality plays a central role throughout: weathered wood, 3D wall finishes, mortex surfaces, old beams, and smooth terrazzo floors express a carefully curated patina. This project is not just a home; it is an exercise in spatial rhythm, where light and shadow, color and material, memory and transformation meet in a carefully orchestrated balance.

Where contrast finds balance

The concept plays with contrast and transition: light and dark, rustic and refined, past and present. In the interior, the home is kept bright and open, with soft walls and pale floors, interrupted by bold and colorful accents: a pink kitchen, orange curtains, and pink bathroom tiles. The new barn, in contrast, is a shadowy retreat, dark finishes on floors and walls shape a space for rest and introspection.

A DIALOGUE BETWEEN OPPOSITES:
Three volumes, one narrative

This project reimagines the transformation of a former café and adjoining barn into a light-filled home, two volumes connected with a newly built passageway. Together, the three volumes form a cohesive ensemble—each with a distinct atmosphere, but designed to be read as one architectural story, one spatial narrative.

Our team was responsible for the complete interior design and offered aesthetic and architectural guidance for the building’s transformation. Architecturally, we focused primarily on the rear façade and the connection zone, including the front façade of the passageway.
